The Montol Festival is an arts and community festival celebrating the midwinter solstice and Cornish traditions of the past, culminating in the main event, Montol Eve on December 21.

The team behind Montol would love as many people as possible to dress up in mock formal and masks and partake in this annual event. There will be street entertainers and market stalls from 12 Noon.

The evening proceedings will begin at 4pm with The Guise and Children’s Sundown Procession which will start at the top of Causewayhead and end on Chapel Street. This year’s ‘Lord of Misrule’ will then be chosen, followed by the 6pm procession leaving from Chapel Street to the burn the sun effigy at The Princess May Recreation Ground. Between 7pm and 8pm the Guise Guilds will choose their Masters and will roam establishments with different themed performances.
