Coverack on the Lizard Peninsula

11 August 2017

It’s business as usual in the charming village of Coverack, which recently suffered a flash flood that gushed through the centre of the village before pouring over the sea wall. The community has really pulled together to repair the damage and ensure that visitors can enjoy all that the village has to offer.

Situated on the Lizard Peninsula, some twelve miles from Helston, Coverack is one of a string of small villages that lie along the Lizard coastline, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty that includes rugged cliffs, sheltered bays and tiny harbours.

Spend a day relaxing on Coverack’s small beach at low tide or perhaps get out on the water by hiring a kayak or stand up paddle board. Boat fishing trips can also be arranged.

You can buy all your beach needs from the local shops and there’s plenty of refreshments available either to take away or at the local hotel.

For such a small village there seems to be lots going on here and August is no exception. There’s a duck race on 14th; Pisky Trails from 17th Aug to 4th September; Coverack Horticultural Show on 19th; Coverack Regatta during the afternoon of 20th; and a Musical Garden Party on 28th.

Do pay the village a visit and you’ll be made most welcome.
